THINK GREEN ... Think Sustainable, Think Energy, Think about our Planet
see my page on what's available and whats next, how we can incorporate “green” and how you can
use sustainable and energy saving products in your home, which not only benefit you on a daily basis
but also benefit the planet. |

Initial Consultation: I come out to your home to visualize the project and surrounding
spaces. We discuss your plan, whether kitchen, bath, outdoor,
or whole house. This usually takes about an hour depending
on the project's extent. I can usually give you a good ball park figure for the
necessary investment at that time, and whether your budget is realistic for what you want to do. I provide some design ideas as well as explain the process and time frame for project completion.
Preliminary Drawings: The first drawings I do are preliminary layouts for floor plans, possibly elevation sketches, and estimates for the cost of the cabinetry, plumbing product, counters and whatever other product will be included in the project. At this point we can then decide exactly what you would like done. You might elect to take just the drawings that would include a full set of installation and working plans, which then could be used for pulling permits, the construction and installation. Typicially, these are all hand drawings, but may include computer renderings depending on the project. If you decide to hire me to manage the entire project – from design, supply of product and materials, I will give you a full estimate based on the work invloved. At this point, we would sign a deposit/retainer contract and off we go. In either case, I will be available to make any changes needed at the time of construction and installation.
Final Design Layout: The next step is for me to do the final design and layouts and all the
drawings. These would also include any mechanical drawings required for the project.
Selections & Detail: At this point we will have discussed some of the selections and details
especially for style and cabinetry. Next comes the fine tuning –
final selections for color, wood species, sink style, faucets,
granite or counter top material and color, and flooring. All the pieces will be
put together at this point, and I will order all product and materials so they are on their way before the construction begins. The contractor will have been selected and consulted with, possibly more than once even before we reach this stage.
The Project Begins: Dates have been set and the tear out begins. Most contractors
will give clients a breakdown in time for what they can expect completed at certain stages of the project as well as overall project completion and what, if anything, might happen to change projected completion dates. Often when dealing with major remodeling projects – and
sometimes even smaller kitchen and bath projects – unexpected events may and probably will occur that may cause us to rethink, adjust or redesign a little, which may or may not add to the time frames.
Mission Accomplished: Finally it is all done and you are moving back into the space, cooking in your new kitchen, relaxing in the new tub or steam shower, entertaining friends and neighbors in the new outdoor living space you have created.
Now sit back, relax, and ENJOY!
